Planning News – Another Appeal Won by Dobson-Grey!

We are delighted to announce that, following an appeal, we have been successful in gaining listed building consent and planning permission for new ancillary residential accommodation in the grounds of a Grade II listed property in Stratford-on-Avon District.

This project involved proposed alterations and extensions to an existing garage, storage building and historic boundary wall to create a home office, fitness room, domestic store and new garaging and included the reconstruction of buildings on the footprint of a range of partially demolished agricultural barns. The site was within a Conservation Area, elevated and visually prominent with the proximity of neighbouring properties also requiring careful consideration.

Our strategy involved working closely with the applicant prior to the submission of planning and listed building applications to ensure that the scale and design of the development fully considered site-specific constraints and met all adopted planning policy requirements.  Both applications were supported by Planning Officers without the need for amendment but were refused against Officer recommendation at Committee.  We subsequently supported the applicant in lodging an appeal against both refusals.

We are thrilled to report that the Planning Inspector recognised the merits of the proposal as set out within our appeal submission.  The approved alterations to the outbuildings will now enable an under-used corner of the property to be upgraded and visually enhanced and will enable its owners to benefit from greatly enhanced domestic accommodation.
