Dobson-Grey acted as CDM Principal Designer for the major refurbishment to the iconic Swan Wing Theatre in Stratford-upon-Avon. The project restored the facade and interior of the building, revealing the hidden heritage within the Swan Wing and enhancing the public spaces. The works were completed to coincide with Shakespeare’s 400th Birthday celebrations.
The RSC Swan Wing Exhibition and Conservation Project involved the creation of a new ‘Playmaker’ Exhibition to the Swan Wing of the RSC Theatre Complex. Some of the parts are all that remains of the original Shakespeare Memorial Theatre, which burnt down in 1926.
Dobson-Grey provided CDM Services to the RSC, ensuring that the RSC complied with their Client duties under the CDM Regulations, including a competency review of the designers and the Principal Contractor, Shaylor. The theatre is remained open throughout the restoration of its Grade II listed wing, which dates back to 1879.
