A manufacturing company in the West Midlands required the entire workforce to receive Level 1 Health and Safety training. Employees came from a wide range of backgrounds some with limited or no understanding of the English language.
The course content had to follow a syllabus provided by the certificating body. A course was designed and a presentation was developed suitable for all delegates. Extra time was allocated to the training session to allow for an interpreter to provide a commentary to those employees who struggled to understand the English language. The examination questions were translated to allow all delegates to understand the questions.
The course was delivered to the employees in English and Punjabi. On completion of the course all delegates undertook an examination which resulted in all delegates achieving a pass. Feedback from the Company has indicated that the workforce now has a great understanding of what is required as regards to health and safety.
