Dobson-Grey Ltd provided Principal Designer and Client advisory services services through all stages of the project from RIBA Stage 2 onwards.
This project focused on the refurbishment and reconfiguration of three buildings. The aim was to upgrade these buildings to Category A office space.
The tight nature of the site, the dense urban environment resulting in vehicular access restrictions, the close proximity of pedestrian routes and the need to work at height on external elevations which faced public areas generated Health and Safety considerations at every stage of the development.
Dobson-Grey supported the design team in addressing issues associated with maintaining plant based on the roof – these included:
The project was successfully completed with a high level of Health and Safety ingrained within the design and through the construction process. While the project was successful there are lessons to be learnt.

Undertaking site audits and inspections throughout the refurbishment works
Lessons learnt – early engagement of the design team in reviews and workshops for access and maintenance were essential to ensure solutions could be worked through to highlight unforeseen issues as early as possible.
