Hinckley Academy & John Cleveland Sixth Form – The Futures Trust

Hinckley Academy and John Cleveland Sixth Form, a campus-style educational facility in Leicestershire, UK, underwent a significant refurbishment project to address deficiencies identified in a 2020 condition report.  Dobson-Grey served as the CDM Principal Designer, ensuring the project adhered to the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015 while effectively managing the unique challenges presented by the campus environment.

Challenges

  • Coordination: Ensuring that works progressed smoothly across the campus, while minimising disruption to ongoing educational activities, was crucial.
  • Phasing: Careful phasing of the refurbishment was necessary to maintain the operational capacity of the campus. This required meticulous scheduling and temporary relocation strategies for students and staff.
  • Stakeholder Management: The project involved a diverse range of stakeholders, including the school’s staff, students, parents, contractors, and the local community. Effective communication and collaboration were essential to managing expectations and ensuring a successful outcome.
  • Health and Safety: Maintaining a safe working environment within an occupied educational setting was a key priority.
